POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety and Security Coordinator will manage and oversee the safety and security programs for Taylor Guitars El Cajon. Under the guidance of the EHS&S Manager, the Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, campus and employee security; loss control, asset protection, facility supervision, safety and security vendor evaluations, security system purchases and maintenance, CTPAT certification, emergency management response, emergency planning and training.  The Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for accident prevention, general safety, employee health, ergonomics, risk mitigation and other safety & security responsibilities as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00AM 7:00PM 

Safety & Security Coordinator Salary Range: $74,152.00 - $88,982.40/year

Essential Functions Statement(s) 

  • Collaborates with management and provides recommendations for improvements to develop, prepare, and implement safety & security programs including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinates safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Owns and manages all aspects of the facility’s security program, including protocols for campus physical security; issuing keys, and codes for access control, fire & intrusion alarms, monitoring security cameras, gate access, loss control, asset protection, , coordinates disaster response, and emergency contacts.    
  • Acts as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and rule infractions. 
  • Assists in internal investigations and interviews related to theft or dishonesty.
  • Escorts terminated employees off company grounds when necessary. 
  • Acts as a liaison and builds relationships with local law enforcement and First Responders.
  • Acts as the primary contact for the alarm company and is available 24 hours for calls. 
  • Represents Taylor Guitars in community or industry safety & security groups and programs. 
  • Acts as a first responder to emergencies or suspicious activities.  
  • Writes and submits timely reports of irregularities such as property or equipment damage, presence of unauthorized persons, theft, or unusual occurrences.
  • Authorizes treatment, arranges transport, and completes the required paperwork for injuries as needed.
  • Assists in the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, insurance investigations and root cause analysis.  
  • Works closely with the training and development team to prepare and monitor programs for safety and security compliance.
  • Monitors safe arrival of employees traveling to and from our Tecate Mexico factory.  
  • Reviews current safety & hazmat training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Coordinates and implements programs to train Executives, Management and employees in work site disaster recovery, Emergency Response and Awareness training.  
  • Assists in emergency communications using mass communication platform.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Manages and maintains hazardous waste programs.
  • Performs other environmental, health and safety related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education & ExperienceAssociate degree in law enforcement, Business Management or Occupational Health preferred. Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred. Excellent management and supervisory skills. Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness. Five to seven years of safety and security experience required. Experience in manufacturing and project management. Prior Law enforcement or Military experience a plus.

 

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.

Certificates & Licenses:

Ability to possess a valid driver's license and to qualify for company insurance coverage. Ability to obtain a Passport for travel to Tecate factory. Must be First Aid certified.

Other Requirements: Must be flexible and available to work weekends and evenings.
