We are seeking a department Supervisor who can lead, support and supervise our Night Shift Mill department. In this role, you will be responsible in ensuring that each “craftsperson” feels like part of the team. A few of your main job functions will include; clearly communicating with your Manager, handling Production related issues, assisting in employee training and development, demonstrating and maintaining a sense of team work, scheduling work, writing and conducting performance evaluations, and answering any questions employees may have. Milling Supervisor (Night Shift) Salary Range:

  
$66,560.00$77,376.00

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Milling Supervisor directs and coordinates activities of the Milling department by ensuring that all materials are ordered, received, dried (if needed), milled and sent to the proper department by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the production and quality control of the department.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Milling department.
  • Ensures appropriate training, certifications and recertifications are obtained for all department employees.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with all levels across the organization.
  • Ensures the sustainment of First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and prioritizes Work-in-Progress (WIP).
  • Participates in new product or LTD releases and communicates information to their teams.
  • Identifies and addresses potential issues with materials and/or shortages in their areas.
  • Oversees the assignment and /or assigns daily workload to employees.
  • Ensures timely delivery of daily production to subsequent department(s).
  • Ensures return of behind parts to production line within established lead-times. Follows through and communicates when issues arise, preventing delivery within established lead-times.
  • Confirms quality of parts and performs routine checks.
  • Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of equipment in the department.
  • Evaluates performance of Milling department employees and makes recommendations to the department manager regarding pay increases, reprimands, terminations or other personnel matters.
  • Oversees training of new employees in the methods and responsibilities of the department and conducts changes in methods as required.
  • Maintains 5s and ensures areas are kept clean and organized.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are in working order.
  • Ensures continuous cross training between Mill/Laser, as well as other departments.
  • Helps cover any work needing completion due to malfunction or absence.
  • Works with department manager and Human Resources, as needed, to resolve employee upsets and/or conflicts.
  • Communicates with team through regularly scheduled department meetings.
  • Maintains employee timesheets via UltiPro including PTO requests and employee punches.
  • Ensures inventory transactions are input accurately and in a timely fashion, cycle count and reconciliation

Education & Experience: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Must have a minimum of two year of people leadership experience (i.e. department lead / supervisor). Five to seven years of same or directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Milling aptitude and Experience: Knowledge of how to use equipment and materials properly. Knowledge of wood processing. Skill of proficiency with routers, sanders, and basic hand tools i.e.: chisels, files, Xacto knives.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
